P.S.: Naini is where my college campus is (Here P.S. is pre-script)
Ever had a situation where you were promised or told that you would get a big or wonderful gift but ended up in not good, but actually, worse gift. This was my first feeling as I stepped my feet in Naini for the first time. Its limited small space, tin roofs, no sports equipments, no operating computer lab (Psst that too in a IT college), no net facility (worse no wi-fi), mashallah food, no television, fights and limitations for food, high person per bathroom ratio and I could go on and on. This scenario just shattered the image of college I created in my mind. It felt as if my two years of hard-work’s materialistic results were denied to me. Life did not live upto my hopes…
During that period, I came across a self-help book and it was in it suggested taking a morning walk everyday. Realising the need to change my way of life or something in me, I thought of giving it a try never realizing what majestic and priceless treasure it was about to unearth for me.
Naini looks best in probably the time when the mighty Sun begins sending its golden warriors to conquer the land and I started enjoying the best. It is a place full of greenery, where a line of trees graces the place’s beauty by their presence on both sides of the road and offers a very peaceful and serene atmosphere. My walks outside Naini are often welcomed by a peacock’s (perched on a veryyy high branch) sweet cry, not to mention the other melodious birds who chirps in, later on. Extending my vision everywhere, I saw the trees assuming the smile of a person who is just rising from sleep. Its falling dark green branches reminding me of a dark waterfall of hair of a pretty damsel. Sometimes, it would even seem, absurdly, as if they are sun-bathing.
As I further took my steps, I further realized the beauty of Naini. Often, the sunrays would penetrate the branches and barks of trees and illuminate a particular portion as if it is God’s own special spot. Now, if you are a Dan Brown fan, you may think of the hidden mysteries and… God knows. A few steps down the road, a large area of bushes comes where various bushes are there, varying in shades of colour, height, intensity, and looks awesome. It is where I think God really reveals his true artistic talent. How with only single colour, green, he manages to create such a level of beauty remains a mystery to me? I also came across a thing totally unexpected i.e. innocence. The very little young plants growing among the pebbles by the road-side would just steal your heart. Many a times, you would have one of the most beautiful creatures i.e. peacock as your companion and after the rain, it looks as it rained the fountain of youth. The leaves of the trees look fresh and glossy and it seems that the tree had just taken its bath as if they are getting ready for their first date. Finally, the leaves strewn and the alternates of shade and sunlight along the road will, surely, generate a strong impulse to summon a photographer and take the best pic ever. I could go on and on… For once, visit Naini from my perspective as, believe me, my words are not justifying the beauty of this place.
However, as the time passed, things at Naini became good and I am blessed, rather privileged, to be living in Naini. Facilities unavailable also became available. I made new friends and started learning new things. Also, met a host of different characters and saw unexpected talents in unexpected persons. In short, Naini became ours.
